Tom Eddy Wines

Tom and Kerry Eddy were looking for a site not only to build a winery, but also a place to call home. In 1999, they found a beautiful twenty-two acre site just north of Calistoga. The illustration to the right is what the future Tom Eddy Winery will someday (hopefully sooner than later!) look like. Completely surrounded by oaks, firs, and madrones, the winery will sit on top of a knoll overlooking Mount St. Helena to the North and south back down the Napa Valley. Our closest winery neighbors are Peter Michael Winery and Storybook Mountain Vineyard.

Bottling the wine also pays homage to the wine's heritage. A hand-torn label connoting mountainous terrain and soils graces a tall Bordeaux bottle. A six-bottle, wooden lay-down box with a brass "Tom Eddy Napa Valley" plaque completes the package. All together it's a subtle, yet dramatic, finish for a wine made better only when the cork is pulled.

Tom Eddy's Napa Valley Cabernet has met the challenge. The inaugural 1991 vintage "captures the ripeness and intensity of Napa Valley Cabernet without going to extremes, (91 points)" according to James Laube, author of the Wine Spectator's California Wine. Tom currently makes only 1500 cases of wine per year, in part because his winery consulting business also requires time and energy and because he is in the middle of his new winery construction project at his home in Calistoga.
