In 1982, Mr. Sinskey purchased 35 acres on Las Amigas Road in Los Carneros and planted Pinot Noir, Merlot and Chardonnay. The vineyard was almost mature when the partners decided to sell Acacia to Chalone in 1985. He had realized his original fantasy of owning a small vineyard; however, being your typical type A, he couldn't resist the challenge of developing his own winery.
