In the early 1960s, Robert Mondavi was the general manager at Charles Krug Winery. He said, "My dream is to create a small winery and produce wines equal to the best produced anywhere in the world." He knew that here in the Napa Valley we had the soil, climate and grape varieties and we had people with the desire and dedication to produce wines that would be in the company of the great wines of the world.
