Nowhere is the romance of the Napa Valley captured more poignantly than in the stately old stone winery located just south of Oakville. One of California's oldest wineries, Far Niente was founded by San Francisco entrepreneur John Benson in 1885 and flourished until the advent of Prohibition. Abandoned for over 60 years and recently placed on the National Register of Historic Places, it has now been transformed into a state-of-the-art winemaking facility that combines the best of both the old and new worlds.
