With this varied experience Joe decided it was time to do it his own way. In 1995 Joe's vision became a reality as Briggs & Sons Winemaking Co. released its first vintage of 3 wines - 2 Pinot Noirs and a Zinfandel. In May of 2002, Joe acquired a property on the Silverado Trail in Calistoga and has begun construction on a new winery of his own. The facility will open in 2003. Total annual case production is currently 4,400 cases with no plans to increase in the foreseeable future. Joe likes to keep the case production for each varietal small. "So I can keep a good handle on them."
